JOHN FAHEY IN CONCERT and INTERVIEWS 1969 & 1996

John Fahey has been called "The Father of American Primitive Guitar". He brought a force and inventiveness to his compositions and playing that is firmly rooted in country blues and folk traditions. His instrumental approach heavily influenced the playing of Leo Kottke, Will Ackerman and a whole generation of "new age" guitarists. In 1960 he appeared on Laura Weber's GUITAR GUITAR TV show. This DVD opens with that performance. John talks about his sources of inspiration, guitar styles and techniques and general thoughts on playing.

We then jump 30 years to a concert John gave at the Freight & Salvage in Berkley, California. His physical appearance has changed but his approach and guitar style are still the same. John performs his hits but he is not afraid to extend and explore these compositions. Together with his audience he travels the musical highways that have influenced him. This is the magic of John Fahey - thirty years of music from one of the most important guitarists of the 20th century.
