LEGENDS OF BOTTLENECK BLUES GUITAR

This DVD presents rare and historical recordings from 1965-1970 of some of the greatest exponents of this blues technique. Black bottleneck guitar styles were probably first inspired by lap-style Hawaiian slide guitar which enjoyed immense popularity shortly after its inception in the mid 1890s. By 1903 it was in vogue in Mississippi, Louisiana and elsewhere. As popularity of bottleneck blues spread through the rural south, so a generation of slide guitarists was born. The musicians presented in this collection are amongst the greatest slide blues guitar players who ever lived and they are testimony to the superb variety which this style offers.
